RPET Entrance Test - Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test

Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test (RPET) is one of the important entrance tests conducted for the engineering programmes, in the Indian State of Rajasthan. It is conducted under the management of the Board of Technical Education, Government of Rajasthan, Jodhpur. A number of government and private engineering institutes conduct admissions of the candidates on the basis of their marks in the RPET entrance test.

The RPET scores of the candidates are not accepted by the BITS Pilani, MNIT Jaipur and other deemed and private universities. It is because they conduct their own entrance tests for the admission of the candidates in undergraduate engineering programmes.

This article will focus on the eligibility criteria, examination pattern and syllabus required for the Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test (RPET).

Programmes for RPET Entrance Test

  • Bachelor of Technology (B Tech)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (BE)

Eligibility Criteria

As mentioned earlier, Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test (RPET) is among the most required entrance tests in the engineering field at the institutes in Rajasthan. Therefore, it becomes imperative for the aspirants to fulfill all the eligibility requirements, which are set up by the Board of Technical Education, Government of Rajasthan. In a condition where any candidate not fulfills eligibility prerequisites, the admission will not be allowed to that candidate.

The candidates, who are seeking to appear in the Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test, should have passed Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2), which is recognized by Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan or any other examination recognized equivalent to the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan.

The candidates must have scored not less than 50% marks in aggregate in the subjects of Physics and Mathematics with optional subjects of Chemistry/bio-technology/computer science/biology. The Schedule Castes (SC)/Schedule Tribes (ST) candidates should have passed the 10+2 level of examination with minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in above mentioned subjects of science stream, recognized by any state or national Board.

The candidates, who are appearing in their final year of qualifying examination or are waiting for the results, can also apply for Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test (RPET). In addition, they must submit proof of their appearing or appeared in the qualifying examination.

The maximum age limit for RPET entrance test is 25 years for the general candidates. For the SC/ST candidates, the age limit goes up to 30 years to apply for this entrance test. However, only candidates from Rajasthan can apply for the Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test, Jodhpur.

Examination Pattern for RPET Entrance Test

Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test (RPET) is conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Government of Rajasthan with the aim of making candidates familiar with the engineering courses. Therefore, the pattern for the entrance test has been designed as such to examine the skills and qualities of the candidates before admitting them to undergraduate level engineering courses.

Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test consists of total number of 120 multiple-choice type questions. In these questions, the participants will get four options of a question in which they will have to find correct answer from them. All the answers have to be marked by the candidates in the given OMR answer sheet with Black ball point pen only. All the questions are divided into three parts i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

All the instructions and questions in the RPET Entrance Test will be both in English and Hindi language. Students can attempt all the questions in their own choice language or as per their comfort. For each correct answer, the candidates will be awarded with one mark while there is no negative marking in the engineering entrance test.

Before reaching at the RPET test venue, the candidates should keep six identical photographs with them, which are mandatory to be presented at the exam room. So by keeping this examination pattern of the engineering entrance examination, the candidates should prepare syllabus for RPET test, which is mentioned below.

Syllabus for RPET Entrance Test

As described earlier, Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test (RPET) will carry all the questions based on the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. So, the candidates must prepare syllabus for the exam as per these subjects. It is general assumption that the syllabus for RPET entrance test is comprised of subjects from Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (12th).

Chemistry Syllabus for RPET Test

Chemistry questions are also very important in the preparation for the RPET entrance tests. Nonetheless, interested candidates can prepare the chemistry syllabus for the test, which is mentioned in the following lines:

Chemical kinetics, acids and bases, metals, development of classical model of an atom, d-block elements, the periodic law, the theory of chemical bonding, chemical equilibrium and ionic equilibrium, and s-block elements. Candidates should do thorough study of all these categories from the chemistry subject.

Physics Syllabus for RPET Test

To prepare for the questions from Physics subject, the candidates can study given below topics from the relative subject.

Measurement and units, dynamics of a particle, nature of light, electrostatics, dynamics of a system of particles, electric circuits, simple harmonic motion, magnetic field, intermolecular forces, alternating current circuits, kinetic theory of gases, modern physics, first law of thermodynamics, electronics, radiation and wave motion.

Mathematics Syllabus for RPET Test

The mathematics section of the Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test (RPET) is that section in which one can fetch good marks. So it is imperative for the aspirants to be well prepared before going to attempt mathematics questions of the entrance test. To assist them, we are here providing syllabus for RPET entrance test - co-ordinate geometry, algebra, vectors, probability, matrices, trigonometry and calculus.

Hence, this mentioned syllabus can assist in students’ preparation for the for RPET Entrance test.

Application Criteria for RPET Test

The interested candidates for the Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test (RPET) can download the application form by visiting the official website of the entrance test – www.techedu.rajasthan.gov.in.
