Pack your bags to travel Goa as Plans for Goa Carnival 2016 Announced by Goa Tourism
For the travel lovers, good news has come out from Goa. The plans are now announced for celebrating evergreen Goa Carnival 2016, as per the statement of the Tourism Department of Goa. The festivities will be celebrated by hundreds of thousands of people from February 6, 2016 to February 9, 2016. Goa Tourism has assured that the event will be most vibrant celebration of the year.
Dilip Parulekar, Minister of Tourism, Government of Goa, has revealed the plans for Goa Carnival 2016 at a press conference organized in Kolkata. During the PC, he highlighted on all efforts which are being put up to make this carnival as the most premier tourism event. He also said that Brouhaha International, which is an arts organization located in Liverpool in the UK, is also working on this project. The Press Conference was also attended by the Managing Director of Goa Tourism Development Corporation, Nikhil Desai.
Goa Tourism and Brouhaha International have named this project as ‘Destination Carnival’, which focuses on exchanging the ideas and capacities within three countries - the UK, South Africa and India (in Goa).
Goa Carnival, which is celebrated every year, is organized to pay tribute to its varied population and inheritance and extend harmony, tranquility and unity in the world.
As far as schedule of Goa Carnival 2016, the major Float Parade will be organized at Panjim, the capital city of Goa. It will be followed by same parades in other locations of the state such as Margao on February 7, Vasco on February 8 and Mapusa on February 9.
To conduct such huge event, the safety of the participants and people is also extremely important, Thus, Dilip Parulekar said at the PC “we have taken into account aspects like safety, security and cleanliness which will ensure that the celebration is a truly memorable one.” He further said that the procedure to select a person playing King Momo has been going on and many interested young men of Goa are keen to play the role.
The safety measures are also taken into special consideration by the authorities because the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is also conducting the annual Wine Festival ‘Grape Escapade 2016’ at DB Bandodkar Ground, Campal between February 4-7, 2016. It is Asia’s biggest wine festival in which big corporations of tourism and hospitality industry participate.
